The ESBS admits each year a total of 40 students. One half is selected in Strasbourg directly by the ESBS, the other half by the universities of Basel and Freiburg. The students are selected depending on their application documents as well as through a personal interview.
Entitled to the study program biotechnology are students having successfully finished their first four semesters of studies in either biology, chemistry, physics, medicine, pharmacy or chemical engineering, at any european university, but primarily from France, Germany or Switzerland. In France, an equivalent certificate (2 years of « Classe préparatoire aux Grandes Ecoles », DUT or BTS) is also taken into consideration. The study program starts in the winter semester.
The deadline for all applications to one of the partner universities is the 1st June of each year.
For each university, different application documents may be needed. However the following are generally to be submitted:
Qualified applicants are invited in June or July to a short personal interview. All applicants are informed a few days after the interview about his/her acceptance or refusal.
Admitted candidates will have to register at the university where they have applied. The registration fees will therefore depend on this university.
The applications from France are to be addressed to the ESBS, the applications from Switzerland are to be addressed to the University of Basel, and those from Germany are to be addressed to the University of Freiburg.
