Home / Engineer’s diplomas curriculum
The three-year-curriculum in Biotechnology, at the ESBS is organized by the “Upper Rhein universities” in Basel, Strasbourg, Karlsruhe and Freiburg. Students from France, Switzerland and Germany receive an interdisciplinary and intensive, trilingual education in the area of biotechnology.
Most of the lectures take place in Strasbourg, however courses and laboratory courses take also place in Basel and Freiburg. The lecture and examination languages are French, German and English.
Courses are regularly updated to fit the recent developments of fundamental and industrial research areas in biotechnology. The graduate study program in biotechnology includes a very broad range of courses such as molecular biology, immunology, biophysics, and process engineering up to economics, languages, molecular modeling, and bioinformatics.
The study program ends up with an 8-month internship, which the students can complete in one of many research laboratories worldwide, in industry, private institutions or in academia.
The degree obtained after graduation is a Diplôme d’ingénieur en biotechnologie/Diplom-Biotechnologe, comparable to an M.Sc. in Biotechnology, officially recognized by France, Germany and Switzerland.
In the new curriculum, students will be able to concentrate in the second year on a specialized area, such as bioproduction or bioinformatics.
