European biotechnology school

ESBS is a component of the University of Strasbourg. The school is a founding member of the “Alsace Tech” network which is an association of local High Schools of Strasbourg not only in scientific areas but also in management and architecture. ESBS is international since the beginning  with german, swiss and french students and lectures given in french, german or english. Biotechnology is studied for 3 years in a multicultural atmosphere.

Three Upper Rhine Universities are partners of the ESBS: the University of Strasbourg, the University of Basel and the University of Freiburg in Breisgau.

All aspects of Biotechnology are taught: biochemistry, biophysics, molecular and cellular biology, microbiology, cellular engineering at molecular level or in silico, genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and bioprocess engineering.

Some hints into patent law, economics and management are provided.

The cursus begins with intensive french or german language courses.

Four specialization options are available:  Bioproduction, Genomics and life modelling, environmental biology and synthetic biology.

Partnership with industry :

ESBS has strong partnerships with industries. Leaders or engineers of biotechnoly industries participate in forums, give lectures or seminars at ESBS and allows students to accomplish practical training periods in industry.

Jobs:

ESBS engineers find jobs in health and environment industry.

“Taxe d’apprentissage”

French educational system allows industries or companies to choose an educational institute (University, High School, etc…) and to support it financially. The procedure is described in the french version of this page.
